Frequently asked questions.

  • Functional Patterns (FP) is a training methodology that aims to optimise human movement by prioritising our human blueprint through standing, walking, running and throwing.

  • Functional Patterns (FP) is for anybody and everybody, our biomechanics specialist are excellent at meeting you where you are at and scaling you up when your body is ready.

  • It is hard to promise anyone a timeframe for their results.

It is important to be aware that the imbalances in your body are deeply ingrained. The human body is great at adapting to stimulus and when the stimulus is suboptimal the body will maladapt.

In most cases, many years of suboptimal patterns will take time to undo and this timeframe will differ from body to body.

For reference, refer to the range of result we have been able to achieve using FP.

Often the faster more substantial results involve clients who are consistent and committed to following our protocols long term.

  • Just like any elimination protocol, we are removing all movement patterns so that we can identify the root cause of your biomechanical problems.

It makes it very difficult to know for certain what is causing pain and discomfort in the body so we recommend a movement elimination whilst training with us.

Once you have optimised your movement and are pain free your practitioner will guide you through a gradual reintroduction of other movements. This way we can identify those that are causing more harm than good in your body.

It is also recommended to avoid movements that don’t enhance gait until you have optimised your posture and gait first and foremost.

  • We believe that FP should be taught at schools to help children adopt optimal movement patterns from an early age.

Often imbalances and suboptimal biomechanics are learnt in our early years, therefore preventing movement patterns at an early age will be beneficial not just for movement and posture but for overall health and wellbeing.

We have achieved several result on young children, changing the course of their lives for the better.

Increased confidence, better structure integration and overall calmer demeanor.

  • The best results are often achieved by training 2 - 3 times per week, whether it is with a practitioner or on your own.

After roughly 10 - 20 session you will have learnt enough techniques and concepts to apply in the time between sessions.

Often we hear clients say “I can feel my glutes when I stand” or “I have more awareness of my body overall”.

The information you will learn and the application of the concepts will improve to the point where you will have the ability to actively practice them throughout your day helping to further ingrain your new functional movement patterns

That’s what we do - it becomes an everyday allday thing.

  • Absolutely, because we are specific and precise with our training we have helped many individuals break this cycle.

We use a combination of myofascial release, corrective exercises and dynamic movements.

This combination has helped many of our own clients not just break this cycle but also eliminate pain.

  • As we work with you to reconnect the body and help you understand the sequence of movement there is a series of fundamental techniques and concept we need to cover and understand.

The 10 week online course provides you with a series of videos and tutorials instructed by the founder Naudi Aguilar.

The course gives you 12 months access to quality material to help you lay the critical foundations for optimised human movement.
